Definitely a website geared more to lovers of aesthetics; review website Fixabook puts the saying ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ straight into disregard.

The site focuses on reviewing editions of books purely by their design. This includes covers, spines, blurbs, layout.

The only thing is they all have to be part of a visual system and they all have to be executed with different elements of design. This, for example, (basically) uses only color and type. The other 3 will be photography & type, illustration and type only.

So, I decided to do an imaginary college house party with an event name of “Don’t Get Skunk’d.” I’ll be posting the rest as I work on the project.

Bandit’s Roost (1888), by Jacob Riis, from “How the Other Half Lives.” Bandit’s Roost, at 59½ Mulberry Street (Mulberry Bend), was the most crime-ridden, dangerous part of all New York City.
