Christmas Design Resources: Santa Claus

“While most of us are going mad shopping for Christmas, they might be cracking heads and rushing to meet deadlines for Christmas card, e-cards design, newsletters, or other types of campaigns.”

Very creative video showing some cool stuff you can do in AfterEffects. I hope I can make interesting video pieces like this after my Motion Graphics class next semester!

Sam wanted me to make him Christmas cards for his family. He’s such a warm soul. Here’s the first one.

Front:

Merry YMas

Inside:

Dad,

I couldn’t be fucked wrapping your present because I don’t get paid enough and was too busy writing a blog post about how I could do your job better with my 6 months industry experience.

Cheers,

Your Son

… Oh yeah, and my brother too.

Typographic Note Cards by Tom Davie

So I’m perusing my usual graphic design blogs and websites and I come across this beautiful typographic project by Tom Davie. The craziest part? I’ve seen and heard this guy give a presentation before at Virginia Tech! He was applying to be a professor in the visual communication design program here, but unfortunately didn’t get the job. Needless to say, I was surprised to see this project and the accompanying name while going through my bookmarks today.

See the rest of the set here.

“Good design defuses the tension between functional and aesthetic goals precisely because it works within the boundaries defined by the functional requirements of the communication problem. Unlike the fine arts, which exists for their own sake, design must always solve a particular real-world problem.”

New Blog Design

I posted a new HTML5/CSS3 version of my blog!

I actually finished working on it a month or so ago but never posted it live because I haven’t had a chance to make it IE compatible yet.

I took a look at my Analytics and only 7.31% of my viewers are using Internet Explorer so I’m not too concerned about IE as of right now. Chrome and FireFox took the first two spots with 35.37% each.
